Who we are
We have proudly served this community for almost thirty years. Dr. Nersmith is a founding member of this medical building, and Dr. Burgos joined our team seven years ago.

We are staffed by four extensively trained and experienced dental hygienists. Additionally, we have three certified dental assistants. Our friendly administrative staff has a number of years experience, and are always happy to assist our patients. We embrace the multicultural aspect of our community, and various staff can communicate with patients in English, as well as Italian.

We strive to offer quality care to our patients, while maintaining an open, friendly atmosphere. We not only treat individuals, but also have developed such a rapport with patients over time that we have a number of families that entrust us with their dental care, all the way up from Grandma and Grandpa,, right on down to the grandkids. We also see friends, neighbours, and co-workers whom patients have referred to us. In fact, it’s not uncommon for us to see reunions taking place right in our reception area!

Our Atmosphere:
Our aim is to make each patient’s experience with us as calm and comfortable as we possibly can.

We understand that some people, whether they be adults or children, are nervous when seeing a dentist. This is perfectly natural, and we have a great deal of experience treating such patients.

We offer introductory visits for children, where they can tour the office, go for a “ride” in the dental chair, or observe a family member having dental work done. Adults are also welcome to arrange a tour of the office to familiarize themselves with the surroundings.

Our reception area offers the latest magazines and newspapers for our patients, and we offer books, colouring and activity sheets for children. Additionally, we have a wide selection of children’s movies available for viewing.

Also, we love celebrating the changing seasons and holidays, and enjoy decorating the office for upcoming occasions. In fact, we have people stop by just to see our latest festive efforts!

Our Goals For Our Patients:
Our goal is to make you happy! We want you to not only feel confident with your smile, but also to have optimum oral health.

To that end, we encourage patients to have regular preventative maintenance appointments. Ideally, we’d like to prevent problems from occurring. During these appointments, patients receive a complete professional cleaning, and the need for fluoride and diagnostic x-rays is assessed. Additionally, patients receive a complete examination, so that we can determine if any problems are developing, as well as perform an oral cancer screening. Again, our emphasis is on preventing problems from occurring, but in the unfortunate event that a problem has developed, we’d like to catch it at the earliest possible stage.

Should treatment be required, you can be confident that your dental concerns are being attended to by one of our experienced dentists. We also offer cosmetic dentistry, including bleaching, veneers, and bonding and implants.

Some Interesting Dental Facts:
Your first set of teeth are referred to as “primary teeth,” and include a total of twenty. After the primary teeth are shed, your second sent of teeth are referred to as “permanent” and include 32 teeth (although you may never see your 4 “wisdom teeth” as they may never “erupt”)

A child’s first tooth normally appears at approximately 6 months of age. A full set of primary teeth are usually complete by 2 years of age. Around the age of 6 years, the primary teeth become loose, and the process of losing all of the primary teeth can continue until roughly 12 years of age.

There are 4 types of teeth, each of which serves a special purpose. Your “incisors” are at the front of your mouth, and designed for cutting. The next teeth back are called “cuspids” and have slightly thicker enamel, allowing them to be used for tearing. Behind these come the “bicuspids”, which contain 2 cusps, which also aid in the grasping and tearing of food, as well as chewing. “Molars” are located in the back of the mouth, and they are used for grinding food

If you take good care of your teeth, they will last you a lifetime!

New Patients:
We are always happy to welcome new patients. It is our commitment to you to provide you with the best care we possibly can. We will be happy to inform you of what we feel are the best treatment options available to you, but ultimately we respect that treatment choices are your decision.
